Fireflies (2018) 7:00
When staying in the mountains of Kyushu in Japan, flautist Bron Gibbs and myself were taken one night to see fireflies in the nearby pine forest. Under the starry sky, the enchanting silvery insects appeared and disappeared whilst flying slowly in large arcs, under nearby pine branches.

Alexander’s Elements (2018) 6:00
Alexander the Great (356 -323 BC) spread Greek knowledge as he travelled south towards Egypt, and east to India. The academies that he established taught knowledge about a connection between man and the plant world from a moral perspective. They taught knowledge of the elements: the earthly in human bones, the fiery and the watery in the heart, the circulation of body fluids and blood, and the airy in breathing. The Titans (2008) 6:00
The Titans of the ancient Greeks live in the earth’s depths. A story tells that when Christ was buried in the earth he was able to meet these fabled spirits, and could pass on knowledge about the Titans to the gods of the upper heavens. The Titans was composed for gayageum virtuoso Ji-Young Li, and the warm and earthy tone of the traditional Korean instrument. The Titans was premiered at the National Centre for Korean Traditional Performing Arts in Seoul by gayageum virtuoso Aeri Ji.

Star Traiect (Star Path) (2000) 3:00
In Australian Aboriginal mythology, the rocks, rivers, mountains and plains are relics of living ancestral spirits who have gone to sleep in the landscape. The spirits are also alive in the interweaving paths of orbiting and fixed stars. The bursting forth of the brilliant Australian night sky in the Australian landscape, and the vitality of the stars were the inspiration for this work.
Commissioned by Ensemble Traiect of Romania.
